Lesson Overview

1.12 Managing Intrusive Thoughts Functionally: Intrusive thoughts can feel scary or confusing, especially when they show up suddenly and won’t go away. You learn that having an unwanted thought doesn’t mean you believe it or want it to happen. Instead of fighting the thoughts or feeling ashamed, you practice acknowledging them and letting them pass through your mind without getting stuck. You develop tools to shift your focus toward something useful, like grounding exercises or healthy distractions. When you stop giving intrusive thoughts importance, they lose intensity. You understand that your brain sometimes sends random messages that mean nothing about who you are. Each time you handle them calmly, your brain learns to relax faster. You take back control from the noise in your mind.
