3.1 – The CBT Triangle: Thoughts, Feelings, Behaviors: The CBT Triangle explains how thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are all connected, shaping how we experience life. When a situation happens, your thoughts interpret it, your feelings react to it, and your behaviors express it. Understanding this cycle helps you realize that changing one part—like your thoughts—can shift the others, leading to better emotional control and healthier habits. For instance, if you think “I can’t handle this,” your body might tense and you might withdraw, but if you reframe it as “I can try one step,” calmness grows and motivation follows. This model gives structure to what often feels chaotic inside the mind. It helps people see that emotions are not random but responses shaped by perception. By observing your own triangle in action, you begin to predict patterns and make adjustments that promote stability, clarity, and resilience every day.
