3.3 – Importance of Darkness and Blackout Curtains: Darkness tells your brain it’s time to sleep by letting melatonin rise. Even small lights from phones or street lamps can confuse your body clock. Blackout curtains create a calm cave-like space that helps you rest deeply. Covering blinking electronics keeps your brain from staying alert. Darkness also improves sleep quality by keeping you in deeper stages longer. Morning light, on the other hand, helps you wake naturally. Using both darkness at night and sunlight in the morning strengthens your rhythm. If full darkness feels strange, a dim warm nightlight can still work. When you control your light, you control your rest. A dark room gives your brain permission to fully recharge.
