Lesson Overview

2.5 – Topical Medications: Creams and Patches: Topical medications work through the skin to treat pain, rashes, or infections. Creams, ointments, and patches deliver medicine right where it’s needed. Clean, dry skin helps absorption and prevents infection. Patches release medicine slowly for hours or days. Washing hands before and after applying keeps the area safe. Avoid covering creams unless told by your doctor. Patches should be placed on flat skin without cuts or hair. Rotate patch sites to prevent irritation. Throw away used patches safely, out of reach of children and pets. These treatments are gentle but powerful when used correctly. Skin care and timing make them work best.
