3.5 – Expiration Dates and Storage Instructions: Expiration dates show how long medicine stays effective and safe. After that date, ingredients may weaken or change. Some drugs can even become harmful when expired. Proper storage helps them last as intended. Keep pills in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. Liquids or insulin may need the refrigerator to stay stable. Avoid storing medicine in the bathroom where moisture collects. Always keep the lids tight and away from children or pets. When it’s time to dispose of old medicine, use pharmacy drop boxes or take-back days. Treating storage like safety protects your health and home every day.
