2.6 – Recognizing Thought Patterns That Precede Use: Sometimes it’s not what happens outside—it’s what happens inside. Thoughts like “I deserve a break” or “just once won’t hurt” often appear before risky behavior. These thought traps can sound reasonable but lead to harm. Learn to catch them early by writing them down. Ask yourself if the thought supports your long-term goals. Replace it with a truth-based statement like “I deserve peace, not pain.” Practice self-talk that builds strength, not excuses. Each time you reframe a thought, you retrain your mind. Over time, strong thoughts lead to strong choices.
