5.2 – Identifying Scents That Trigger Calm: Certain scents help the body relax by lowering heart rate and easing stress. Lavender, chamomile, vanilla, and sandalwood are known for their soothing qualities. Learning which ones calm you personally takes a bit of testing and awareness. Try smelling each scent slowly, breathing it in through the nose, and noticing your body’s response. A calm scent should make your shoulders drop and your breath slow down. Everyone’s sense of comfort is different, so keep track of what works best. You might find that a specific soap or lotion helps you unwind before bed. Over time, pairing these scents with rest trains your brain to feel peaceful faster. Calm scents become your personal shortcut to relaxation and control.
