1.7 – Electrical Safety and Lockout/Tagout Procedures: Electricity powers every workplace but can cause severe harm when handled carelessly. Understanding how to safely operate, inspect, and maintain electrical equipment prevents shocks, burns, or fires. OSHA’s Lockout/Tagout procedures protect workers performing maintenance on energized systems. By isolating and tagging power sources, employees ensure that machines cannot be accidentally started. Only trained and authorized personnel should perform electrical work. Worn cords, overloaded outlets, and wet conditions all increase risk and must be corrected immediately.
