Course overview
Lesson Overview

1.9 – The Role of Hypervigilance in Everyday Situations: Hypervigilance keeps the body constantly on edge, scanning for danger that may not exist. Every sound, glance, or movement becomes a possible threat. This constant alertness drains both mind and body. It can cause anxiety, tension, and irritability, even in peaceful environments. The person may struggle to relax or trust others easily. Understanding hypervigilance means realizing it was once a form of protection. Learning to pause, breathe, and assess helps the brain reset. With time and grounding techniques, the body learns safety again. The goal is not to eliminate awareness but to find calm within it.
