Lesson Overview

9.73 – Identifying Your Repair Triggers: Every person has emotional buttons that complicate reconciliation. Identifying them turns unconscious reactions into conscious choices. Triggers often stem from childhood wounds, past relationships, or personal insecurities. Recognizing these patterns allows pre-emptive calm. Discussing triggers together builds empathy: “When this happens, I feel unsafe.” Naming them reduces surprise and blame. Once identified, partners can create strategies to de-escalate quickly. Awareness becomes armor made of understanding rather than avoidance. Triggers lose power when they’re known instead of hidden.
