Lesson Overview

3.2 – Building Reading Comprehension Strategies: Read with purpose by defining why you’re reading a text before starting. Use a pen or digital tool to underline key points. Pause after each paragraph to summarize what you understood. Look up unfamiliar words and write simple definitions. Practice predicting what might happen next in the reading. Highlight the author’s main idea, not just interesting facts. Create a short question list after finishing each text. Review those notes to reinforce retention. Discuss what you read with someone to test understanding. The more you practice active reading, the easier comprehension becomes.
