2.21 – Why Eating “Too Clean” Can Kill Muscle Growth: Eating clean can be helpful, but going too strict can quietly stop muscle gains. When you fear carbs and fats, you often under-eat without realizing it. Muscle needs a surplus signal, and if your body never feels “fed,” it focuses on survival instead of growth. Many people train hard but stay flat because their calories never match their output. Overly clean eating can also raise stress because you feel guilty when meals are not perfect. That stress can hurt sleep, and poor sleep reduces recovery and strength. If meals are too low in energy, workouts feel heavy and you cannot push enough weight or volume to grow. You may also start losing motivation because you feel like you are working hard with no results. A smart plan includes whole foods, but it also includes enough total fuel to build. The goal is not perfect food, it is consistent fueling that supports training. When you eat clean and adequate at the same time, your body finally has permission to grow.
