2.24 – Why Fast Food Strength Gains Don’t Last: Fast food can raise calories quickly, but the body often pays a hidden cost over time. At first, the scale goes up and workouts may feel strong because you have more energy. Then inflammation can creep in and recovery starts slowing down. Sleep can worsen, digestion can get rough, and joints can feel more irritated under heavy load. That makes training less consistent, and consistency is what builds muscle. Fast food also makes it easy to overshoot calories and gain fat faster than muscle. When that happens, movement can feel heavier and conditioning drops. Some people mistake water retention and bloating for real muscle growth. When they try to clean up later, they feel weaker and think they “lost muscle,” but much of it was temporary fullness. Whole foods support steady glycogen, better minerals, and better recovery signals. You do not need to be perfect, but you do need a base of quality food to keep gains stable. This lesson helps people understand why short-term bulks fail long-term. When you fuel with smarter foods, the strength you build stays with you.
