Lesson Overview

5.12 – Avoiding Bribery and Over-Rewarding: Bribery and over-rewarding can weaken real motivation. When rewards are too frequent, the brain stops valuing them. Bribes focus on control instead of encouragement. True reinforcement supports learning, not manipulation. The goal is to make effort meaningful, not forced. Balance and timing matter more than the size of the reward. Too many prizes can distract from purpose and self-pride. Fewer but thoughtful rewards build long-term satisfaction. Encouragement should feel earned, not demanded. Healthy reinforcement creates growth, while bribery creates dependence.
