Lesson Overview

5.13 – Transitioning from External to Internal Motivation: External rewards start change, but internal motivation keeps it going. Over time, pride, satisfaction, and purpose replace prizes. This shift teaches people to act for themselves, not approval. Reflection helps link effort to personal values. Praise moves from “You did it!” to “You must feel proud.” Gradually reducing rewards builds self-drive and maturity. The goal is confidence that comes from inside, not from others. Supporting autonomy strengthens independence and problem-solving. When people feel ownership of progress, motivation lasts. The reward becomes the feeling of growth itself.
