Lesson Overview

8.15 – Planning for Long-Term Independence: The ultimate goal of reinforcement is independence, not constant supervision. Over time, people learn to motivate themselves from within. Gradually reducing external supports teaches confidence and ownership. Internal motivation then becomes the engine for action. Long-term independence means doing what’s right without needing reminders. Tracking helps decide when readiness is reached. Encouragement shifts from control to collaboration. Independence becomes proof of mastery and maturity. Reinforcement fades, but growth remains strong. True success is needing less help while keeping the same drive to improve.
