1.11 – Breaking Down the Cycle of Unhealthy Habits: Unhealthy habits often start with stress, boredom, or discomfort. The quick fix gives relief, so your brain asks for it again. To break the cycle, pause and name the feeling first. Swap the routine for one that gives a similar reward. Try breath, water, a walk, or a short check-in with a friend. Make the unhelpful choice harder by adding friction. Keep helpful choices easy and ready to go. Track urges and notice they rise and fall like waves. Each time you ride the wave, the habit loses power. Over time, the cycle gets weaker and you get stronger.
