Lesson Overview

9.3 – Reducing Internal Distractions While Listening: Internal distractions like worry or daydreaming pull focus away from people. To stay present, notice when your thoughts wander and gently return to the speaker. Take a slow breath to ground yourself back in the moment. You can remind yourself that what’s being said deserves full attention now. Let go of judgments or assumptions about what will be said next. Each time you bring yourself back, you train your brain to listen better. It’s okay if your mind drifts—it’s the returning that builds focus. This kind of mental discipline strengthens relationships and self-awareness. Deep listening starts inside before it reaches others. Internal calm creates external connection.
