Lesson Overview

1.3 – The Role of Perception in Problem Definition: People see the same event in different ways because of their experiences and beliefs. One person may view a comment as helpful, while another hears it as rude. Perception shapes what each person thinks the problem is. If the definitions do not match, the solution will not fit. Asking, “How are you seeing this?” opens the door to clarity. Reflecting back what you heard also builds trust. When both views are on the table, the real issue becomes clearer. You can spot shared goals hiding under the disagreement. Then you can work on a plan that fits both sides. Better definitions lead to better results and less drama.
