Lesson Overview

7.14 – Avoiding Taking Sides During Mediation: Taking sides destroys neutrality and trust. A mediator must treat every person’s story with equal respect. Showing favoritism makes one person feel dismissed. You can stay balanced by using even tone and body language. Repeat each side’s view with equal care and attention. Neutral questions like “How did that affect you?” keep fairness alive. Avoid using judgmental words or revealing opinions. The goal is balance, not agreement with one side. Staying neutral helps everyone feel heard equally. True fairness means belonging to the solution, not the conflict.
