Lesson Overview

1.6 – How Unmet Needs Create Tension: Needs like safety, respect, rest, and fairness drive behavior. When needs go unmet, people grow tense and reactive. Arguments often point to deeper needs under the surface. Hunger, worry, or feeling ignored can turn small problems into big ones. Naming the need helps people stop blaming and start solving. You can ask, “What do you need more of right now?” to open things up. Meeting even part of the need lowers heat quickly. Once calm returns, it is easier to plan next steps. Needs are not “extra”; they are the engine of cooperation. Seeing needs clearly turns fights into teamwork.
