Lesson Overview

1.5 – Extrinsic Motivation: Rewards, Recognition, and Pressure: Extrinsic motivation comes from outside rewards or consequences. It can jump-start action when you feel stuck. Prizes, grades, money, and praise are common drivers. Deadlines and rules can also push you forward. Too much pressure can create stress and burnout. The best plan uses rewards to support healthy habits. Tie rewards to effort and improvement, not just outcomes. Fade the rewards as the habit gets stronger. Let recognition point you back to your personal “why.” Use outside rewards as tools, not the main engine.
