1.6 – Recognizing Signs of Overwhelm and Stress: Overwhelm often sneaks in quietly, disguising itself as tiredness, irritability, or lack of focus, until it begins to shape how you think and respond to everyday challenges. Transition periods stretch your mental and emotional limits because routines are unstable and expectations are unclear. Recognizing stress early allows you to manage it before it grows into burnout or disengagement. Physical clues—like tension headaches, fatigue, or restless sleep—are warning signs that your body is carrying too much emotional weight. Emotional clues include constant worry, difficulty concentrating, or the urge to withdraw from responsibilities. Awareness is your first defense against being consumed by stress; it gives you room to slow down and reset. Taking small pauses during the day, journaling emotions, or speaking with supportive people helps you decompress before pressure builds too high. Overwhelm doesn’t mean weakness; it signals your system’s need for rest and recalibration. Learning to notice these patterns early turns stress management into prevention, not reaction. By respecting your limits, you create space for balance, focus, and sustainable progress during reentry.
