Lesson Overview

9.6 – Using Time-Outs and Pauses to Stay Calm: Time-outs help regain control during intense moments. Step away physically and emotionally for a few minutes. Use breathing or grounding to lower adrenaline. Avoid storming off in anger—announce the pause calmly. Reflect briefly before returning to the discussion. Use this time to reset mindset and tone. Inform the other person when you’re ready to continue. A calm break prevents harmful words or actions. Practiced pauses build maturity under pressure. Composure is strength disguised as silence.
