1.11 – Mental Health Stigma and Physical Wellness: Stigma around mental health can make people feel ashamed for struggling, stopping them from getting the care they need. When someone hides their emotions, stress builds up inside the body and affects sleep, appetite, and overall health. Stigma might convince people to ignore early warning signs or pretend everything is fine, which can make conditions worse. Education and open conversations help remove the fear of judgment and remind everyone that mental health is just as real as physical health. When people feel safe to speak up, they are more likely to find support and treatment that helps both mind and body heal. Respect and understanding from others create a healthier community where people can be honest about challenges.
