Lesson Overview

9.7 – Helping a Friend in Crisis Safely: Supporting a friend in crisis means offering care while keeping yourself protected. Kind words, calm presence, and encouraging them to breathe or sit down can reduce panic. Asking simple questions like “What do you need?” or “Can I call someone for you?” shows you are there to help. If the situation becomes unsafe — like aggression or self-harm risks — distance yourself and get professionals involved. Your safety matters too. Encouraging your friend to talk to a trusted adult or mental health resource keeps the responsibility shared. Checking back later shows your support doesn’t end after the crisis. Friendship becomes stronger when safety and care guide your actions.
