Lesson Overview

9.8 – Recognizing Signs of Overdose: Overdose signs can appear suddenly and require instant action. Symptoms may include extreme confusion, slow or stopped breathing, pale or blue skin, vomiting, or inability to wake up. If you see these symptoms after someone used drugs, alcohol, or unknown substances, treat it as an emergency. Calling 911 as fast as possible gives the person the greatest chance of survival. Rolling them onto their side if they are unconscious prevents choking. Knowing that legal protections often exist for people who call for help encourages quick action without fear. Recognizing overdose signs helps prevent tragedy and shows the importance of acting quickly when life is threatened.
