Replace harsh comments with coaching lines like “One step now,” “Slow is smooth,” or “Finish the line you’re on.” Keep phrases short, present-tense, and specific. Pair them with a physical cue, such as a steady breath or relaxed shoulders, to anchor calm. When distractions appear, respond with a practiced line: “Not now—park it, return later.” Log which phrases work best so they become automatic. Supportive self-talk keeps you steady under pressure and turns focus into a repeatable habit.
