6.2 – Recognizing When Your Mind Starts to Drift: Drifting begins quietly, often with tiny signs like rereading the same line, clicking between tabs, or daydreaming about unrelated topics. Your job is to notice those moments without judgment and gently bring your attention back. You can name the drift (“I’m scanning, not thinking”) and reset with a small action such as underlining a key phrase or summarizing the last idea out loud. Short micro-checks every few minutes help you catch the slide early, before minutes turn into half an hour. If your eyes blur or your body slumps, that’s your cue to stretch, sip water, or switch tasks briefly. The goal is not perfection; it’s quick recovery. When you treat drifting as data, not failure, you stay calm and flexible. Over time, your brain learns the path back to focus faster each day.
