Lesson Overview

1.15 – Creating New, Supportive Relationship Norms: Define the tone you want at home in ten words or fewer, like “calm, honest, prepared, and kind.” Choose three daily behaviors that match that tone, such as gentle start-ups, shared checklists, and quiet wind-downs. Build visible cues—whiteboards, alarms, or baskets—that make the new norms easy. Practice one norm at a time for two weeks. Track how mornings, meals, and nights feel. Celebrate small wins often. When stress disrupts the norms, reset with a quick huddle and a simple next step. Teach kids the “why” behind each practice so habits stick. Review norms monthly and update as life changes. Supportive norms grow from consistent actions, patient repair, and appreciation for every effort made.
