6.5 – Understanding Emotional and Physical Boundaries: Emotional boundaries protect your inner world—your feelings, values, and thoughts—while physical boundaries protect your body and personal space; know that it’s okay to tell someone you’re not ready to talk about a topic or that you don’t like certain jokes; pay attention to who drains your energy and who makes you feel comfortable; define your space by saying things like “I prefer not to be hugged without asking first” or “Please don’t raise your voice at me”; respect other people’s boundaries with the same care; when someone shares a boundary, thank them for telling you—it shows trust; balancing emotional and physical boundaries prevents overwhelm and keeps relationships respectful.
