6.1 – What Are Personal Boundaries?: Personal boundaries are the rules you create to protect your well-being, energy, and identity, and they help others know how to treat you in a respectful way; boundaries can be emotional, physical, digital, or time-related, and each type creates safe space for healthy connection; start by noticing when you feel uncomfortable, overwhelmed, or disrespected—these moments point to where boundaries are missing; write a list of what behaviors feel okay and what behaviors do not, then turn your list into simple statements like “Please knock before entering my room” or “I can talk later when I’m calmer”; practice saying boundaries calmly and kindly without long explanations; respect others’ boundaries the same way you want yours respected; update boundaries when life changes, because personal growth often requires new limits; remember that boundaries are not walls to shut people out but doors that allow connection without losing yourself; healthy boundaries make relationships feel safe, balanced, and supportive.
