Lesson Overview

1.8 – Healthy Role Models vs. Dysfunctional Patterns: Identify three people, real or fictional, whose relationship habits you admire, and write what they do that feels healthy. Then list three patterns you’ve seen that lead to harm, like silent treatment, sarcasm, or score-keeping. Compare these lists to your daily choices. Choose one healthy behavior to practice for two weeks, such as active listening or gentle start-ups. Replace one unhelpful habit with a neutral pause, then a clear request. Track progress with short reflections. Share wins to reinforce change. If you slip, reset without self-shame. Teach children what healthy looks like by narrating your choices. Keep learning by reading, observing, and asking for feedback. Over time, repeated healthy actions become the new pattern the whole family can depend on.
