Course overview
Lesson Overview

1.16 – When It Starts as a Joke and Goes Too Far: Sometimes people tease, flirt, or make jokes that begin playfully but cross a line into making someone feel uncomfortable or unsafe. It may start with laughter, but if the other person freezes, pulls away, or stops smiling, that’s a sign it’s not funny anymore. When humor turns into unwanted touching or personal comments, it becomes harassment or even assault. Everyone has different comfort levels, and it’s important to notice those signals. Respect means stopping immediately when someone seems uneasy. The excuse “I was just joking” doesn’t erase the harm or the impact your actions had. Real humor should make everyone laugh, not cause embarrassment or fear. Understanding this difference builds emotional awareness and social respect. Jokes should bring people together, not cross their personal boundaries. Being kind and mindful shows maturity and care for others’ feelings.
