🛡️ Teen Survival Guide for Police Encounters
Course overview
Lesson Overview

1.8 – What to Do If You’re Cuffed or Pinned Without Reason: When restrained unexpectedly, panic can make things worse. Do not fight the grip or pull away. Keep your voice steady and say, “I am not resisting.” Ask if you are under arrest and why. You don’t need to explain anything else. Stay still and avoid eye contact that could seem challenging. Try to breathe slowly even if you feel angry or embarrassed. Remember every detail you can later for a report or complaint. You have the right to an attorney before answering questions. The goal is to stay alive and uninjured so the truth can come out later. Your stillness is your strength in that moment.
