20.1 – Understanding Label Sections: Food packaging may look confusing at first, but every section of a nutrition label is designed to help you take control of your choices and understand what you are putting into your body. The top of the label highlights serving size and calories, so you can avoid eating more than intended without noticing. Just below that, you will see information about nutrients like total fat, saturated fat, cholesterol, sodium, carbohydrates, fiber, sugars, and protein, each playing a role in how your body feels, grows, and stays energized throughout the day. The daily value percentages show how a food fits into a balanced diet, and they help you quickly judge whether the item supports your goals or pushes you too far in areas like salt or sugar. At the bottom, the ingredient list shows what the food is truly made of, which matters even if the marketing on the front looks healthy. When you know what every section means, you shop with confidence, stay more consistent with your health goals, and choose foods that help you feel strong instead of tired or hungry soon after eating.
