23.1 – Recognizing Signs of Overuse: Understanding the early signs of overuse is critical to avoiding injuries that can set your progress back for weeks or even months. Instead of pushing through pain and calling it “normal,” it’s important to learn the difference between healthy fatigue and harmful strain. Soreness that lingers for more than a few days, joints that feel stiff or inflamed, or muscles that don’t seem to bounce back may all be signs your body is overloaded. Skipping recovery days, not sleeping well, or ignoring stress levels can turn small aches into bigger problems. Overuse often shows up when the same movements are repeated too often without variation or rest. Paying attention to tightness, swelling, or reduced performance gives you clues that your body needs a break. Smart athletes learn how to listen to their bodies instead of waiting until they’re forced to stop. Recognizing these signals early helps prevent long-term damage and builds trust between you and your training plan. Prevention starts with awareness, and awareness starts with paying close attention before it’s too late.
