Lesson Overview

2.2 – The Difference Between Internal and External Triggers: External triggers come from the outside world, like loud noises, social stress, deadlines, or conflict, while internal triggers come from inside your mind or body, such as worry, fear, or self-pressure. Internal triggers might show up as negative thoughts, perfectionism, or uncomfortable memories that pop up unexpectedly. External triggers are easier to see, but internal ones can be just as strong, especially when your mind creates stress even when nothing is happening around you. Telling them apart helps you understand whether the stress is coming from your environment or your thinking. This awareness allows you to respond more purposefully instead of reacting on impulse. Both types of triggers deserve attention and care so you can feel more grounded and supported. Understanding where stress comes from helps you build better strategies to manage both inside and outside challenges.
