9.4 – Handling Criticism Without Spiraling: Criticism can trigger stress quickly because your brain sees it as a threat to acceptance or worth. Spiraling often comes from believing harsh thoughts like “I’m not good enough,” or “I always mess up.” Handling criticism calmly means taking a breath, listening for what’s helpful, and letting go of what’s hurtful or untrue. You can remind yourself that feedback is about behavior, not your entire identity. It is okay to ask for clarification or take time to think before responding. When you separate constructive guidance from negativity, you protect your confidence while still learning and improving. Criticism doesn’t define you — your response does.
