Lesson Overview

4.1 – Intro to Relaxation: What Happens in the Body: Relaxation is the opposite of the stress response, helping your body shift from tension to comfort. When you relax, your breathing slows, your muscles release tightness, and your heart rate returns to a calmer rhythm. Your brain receives signals that you are safe, so thoughts become clearer and less rushed. Relaxation also supports digestion, sleep, and healthy immune function. It reminds your nervous system that not every moment requires alertness or defense. Even a short moment of calm can help undo the effects of stress that build up throughout the day. Practicing relaxation regularly trains your body to recover faster from overwhelming situations. The more you know how calm feels, the easier it becomes to return to it when stress appears.
