⚠️ Crisis Prevention & De-escalation Skills *coming soon
Course overview
Lesson Overview

1.37 – The Role of Powerlessness in Escalation: Feeling powerless can push people toward crisis faster than almost anything else. When someone believes they have no choice, emotions explode or collapse. Powerlessness breeds frustration, anger, or despair. Restoring even small bits of control—like choices, voice, or space—can calm tension quickly. People need to feel heard to feel safe. Recognizing when power struggles are driving behavior helps shift focus to collaboration. Giving options instead of orders builds respect. Power shared is power stabilized. When control returns, escalation slows. Empowerment is one of the strongest tools for crisis prevention.
