⚠️ Crisis Prevention & De-escalation Skills *coming soon
Course overview
Lesson Overview

1.7 – Internal vs. External Crisis Triggers: Triggers are sparks that set off emotional reactions, and they can come from inside or outside you. Internal triggers come from thoughts, memories, or fears that replay old pain. External triggers come from people, situations, or environments that cause pressure or fear. Both can mix and make your reactions stronger. Learning the difference helps you focus on what you can control. When you can name your triggers, they lose some of their power. You can build plans to face them instead of being caught off guard. Recognizing triggers also builds empathy—you begin to see how others’ triggers guide their actions too. The more you understand what sets you off, the easier it becomes to stay grounded. Awareness makes space between reaction and choice, which is where healing begins.
