Lesson Overview

5.1 – Understanding Sidewalk and Crosswalk Rules: Sidewalks and crosswalks are designed to keep you safe while walking near traffic. Always stay on sidewalks instead of walking on the road when possible. If no sidewalk exists, walk facing traffic so you can see oncoming cars. Crosswalks mark safe places to cross streets with visible lines or signals. Wait for the “walk” sign or green light before stepping out. Make eye contact with drivers to ensure they see you. Avoid running or rushing across since steady walking keeps balance. Look out for turning cars even when lights are green. Stay alert to bikes, scooters, or delivery vehicles too. Following these rules turns walking into a confident and safe daily habit.
