Lesson Overview

5.6 – Recognizing and Avoiding Unsafe Shortcuts: Taking shortcuts might seem faster but can be dangerous. Paths through parking lots, alleys, or between cars reduce visibility. Drivers often don’t expect people in those areas. Shortcuts may also lack sidewalks or proper lighting. Choosing main routes keeps you within safe traffic zones. If you must take a shortcut, check the area’s condition first. Avoid walking near tall bushes or corners where drivers can’t see. Sticking to sidewalks, even if longer, lowers accident risk. Safe travel values protection over speed. Choosing the safer path every time builds smart travel habits.
