Lesson Overview

5.14 – Recognizing Distracted Driver Risks: Distracted drivers are one of the biggest dangers to pedestrians. Some drivers may text, eat, or look away while driving. Always assume they might not see you right away. Watch their speed and tire direction to predict movement. Avoid stepping out until you’re sure they’ve stopped completely. Bright clothing and eye contact make you stand out more. Avoid walking in front of cars waiting to turn without checking first. Listening for sudden acceleration can warn you early. Staying cautious protects you even when others aren’t focused. Awareness of distracted drivers keeps you in control of your safety.
