4.9 – Dealing With Nerves or Anxiety Before Volunteering: Feeling nervous before volunteering is normal, especially when meeting new people or doing new tasks. Taking slow breaths can help calm your mind and body. Reminding yourself why you chose to volunteer builds confidence. Preparing ahead of time helps reduce confusion and stress. If you feel unsure, asking for help is always okay. Starting with small tasks lets you ease into the experience comfortably. Giving yourself credit for showing up shows self-respect and bravery. Each visit becomes easier as you get used to the routine. Nervous feelings usually fade once you feel included and valued. Being brave enough to try is the most important step.
