5.6 – Asking for Help From a Public Employee: Public employees are trained to assist people in places like stores, libraries, or transit areas. Approaching a worker politely shows respect and increases the chance of getting helpful support. You can start by saying hello and clearly explaining what you need. If you feel nervous, planning your question ahead of time can help. Public employees can help you find items, give directions, or explain rules you might not understand. Saying thank you shows appreciation for their time. Asking for help builds social confidence and problem-solving skills. Most people are happy to support you when you ask kindly. Reaching out keeps you safe and supported in the community. You are never alone when you know how to ask for help.
