Lesson Overview

9.3 – Helping Children Handle Rejection: Rejection hurts, but it’s also a chance to grow resilience. Teach that not every friendship or game will include them—and that’s okay. Validate feelings before offering advice. Use examples from your own life to show recovery is possible. Help them focus on other friends and joyful activities. Encourage gratitude for the connections that do work. Remind them that self-worth doesn’t depend on others’ choices. Practice self-kindness statements like “I’m still a good friend.” Role-play how to respond politely when excluded. Over time, rejection becomes less painful and more empowering.
