Lesson Overview

3.1 – How Memory Works in the Brain: Memory is your brain’s way of keeping what matters. It takes in information, stores it, and pulls it out when you need it. Sensory memory captures sights and sounds for a few seconds. Short-term memory holds small bits for minutes, like a phone number. Long-term memory keeps what you’ve practiced or cared about. Every recall strengthens the brain’s connection to that idea. Sleep, emotion, and repetition all make memories last longer. Distractions and stress make storage harder, so calm focus helps most. Memory is not fixed—it grows stronger with care and smart habits. Understanding how memory works helps you learn faster and remember longer.
