Lesson Overview

3.2 – Understanding Short-Term vs. Long-Term Memory: Short-term memory handles what’s happening right now. It’s like a mental notepad that fades quickly if not refreshed. Long-term memory is the archive that stores knowledge, skills, and experiences. To move something from short to long term, the brain needs repetition and meaning. Saying information out loud or using it in context helps it stick. Visualizing or teaching it to someone else deepens storage. Forgetting is normal when details don’t get practiced. The key is linking facts to emotion or purpose. When you understand the difference, you can choose study methods that last.
